Challenging a large for-profit company , who stands to make millions off the Alfred quarry is difficult-it costs a lot, requires hours of research, phone calls, document development and is lengthy BUT this would not have been possible without the support of the community.
People have volunteered to do research, call local representatives, knocked on doors and have SHOWN UP at public hearings. All of this is invaluable. It means the world to the core team of volunteers and fuels our energy levels to keep going.
However, none of this is free. COA efforts are free but all of the costs of document production, flyers, signs, along with hiring experts and legal representation has brought us into the tens of thousands of dollars, so far. We plan to continue to fight this proposed quarry because it is the right thing to do for the good people of our community.
Many thanks for your generosity and endorsement of COA. Donations are now tax deductable, thanks to our partnership with Tiny Seed, a 501c3, which allows us to advocate for more support to keep these challenges going. Any donation will help fund our fight here in Alfred and at the state level to rebut the details of the GSG application, address ordinance discrepancies, regulatory or other biases that make Alfred vulnerable to GSG or other future corporations.
There are two easy ways to make tax deductible donations.
First, online donations via Give Butter:
Second, mail-in donations via Tiny Seed:
